Skills Active supports two awards for the exercise industry. These are presented at the NZ Exercise Industry Awards.
Manukura is simply translated as a leader or person held in high esteem. A significant aspect, that can’t be simply translated is that to be pronounced a ‘manukura’ you must have the support of people around you, and the people you work with. It is a position of mana.
The Skills Active Manukura Award is all about leadership, and how someone's work ethic reflects how they are regarded and supported by those around them. The Manukura Award recognises leaders in the exercise industry who are engaging with industry training, and are achieving great things with the support of their peers.
The award is open to current staff, assessors, managers and leaders in the exercise industry who are engaged in industry training.
If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please email us before 31 July.

Te iti kahurangi is the pursuit of excellence, and is taken from the very famous whakatauki (proverb): "Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe, me he maunga teitei." "Pursue excellence, and should you stumble, let it be to a lofty mountain."
The award is open to organisations currently engaged in industry training who are achieving at a high level, supporting their workforce and striving for excellence.
